Starting all over. Back to the irons, still awaiting an Eagle Industries Stock Pack and 1K rounds of M2. How would you equip this rifle?

Since the barrel isn't free floated, and the rifle is meant to be used with a hasty, what advantage does relocating the front sling mount offer?

You are also correct, if the barrel was free floated the extra tension on the barrel band would cause an inaccuracy when compared to the free floating. So I get what you are telling me. Now what I can't explain is if the rub point is an intentional design feature, or just a QA problem?????? A Tack Driving Bench Rifle this hasn't proven to be.

But just what is needed for a hunting rifle in Florida? As long as it can deliver less than 8 inches at 300 yards either the .308 Win or 30-06 might be overkill for any game animal round these parts. (It's getting harder to obtain a Black Bear Tag in Northeast Florida nowadays.)

Do you think I should free float the barrel? Or just purchase an aramid fiber aluminum blocked stock to replace the laminate? Somehow I feel that the rifle would lose a little character without the laminate stock. JMHO.

Adding a couple other options:

Ruger 4K30HM ring, & Ruger 5K30HM ring, the Hawkeye Guide Gun uses different rings forward & aft for scope mounting.

Weaver Tactical Model 800368 2-10 X 36 Dayscope.

Presently unused 1 1/4 of butt spacers.
