Anyone have a recommendation for a gunsmith in the Pensacola area that could weld a picatinny rail on a PTR91 cocking tube? Picture below to illustrate.

Or if welding on the cocking tube is a no go could someone please explain?

most of the options out there don't look too sturdy and I've got questions whether they would hold zero. I figure a reasonably small weld on the cocking tube would be certain and may cost less than $300 for the Spuhr handguard.

Have ran a midwest handguard on MP5 with NGAL for a while. Has held zero for the better part of 6 months. It has a tension screw to take out any play if I recall correctly, very solid.

But yes, the cost of the rail plus attachment accessories may not fit your bill so welding a rail on should be just fine. i can't say for sure if welding would impinge on the internal area of the cocking tube or not though.
