I don’t believe the MT stands for military trainer but it could be one.
Most were marked U.S. Property but not all. Are there any other markings?
Where did the guy say he got it?

No other marks not on civilian guns showed MT on 1937 to 1944. Barrel has corners beveled to almost round at muzzle . Bullseye on left side barrel . I am not familiar with Match and Bullseye. He is wanting to sell to buy a M1 Carbine and gear . Was passed down from relative.

Max, we had about 40 of these pistols in "my" armory at a small NAS.
They were ONLY used (as per my "boss") for the USN active reserves for training for the pistol team.
These pistols were all in great shape and they stayed with me for about a year and a half.
Suddenly, they went back to Crane,Ind. for some expedited purpose (hair on fire ??).
These guns shot extremely well as per the USN pistol team.
We had spare parts on hand but never had to swap any out IIRC.
Super reliable, extremely accurate in the right hands. (Not mine) ---- SAWMAN

Brian,on one trip to Crane,I eyeballed about 4-500 of these in racks.
The cranky old Master Chief "growled" - -> we got more of them MF'ers in the back. ---- SAWMAN
