Stealing a little thunder. Guess Y'all are more used to .308 Winchester. Just what hasn't this cartridge done over the last 50 years? Probably an easier question.

Isn't that a Troy stock on your M1A? I bought one when they 1st came out on a scout squad, mine had an adjustable length via 2 slide rods. it's a beast! I was trying to recall that just the other day and when I seen yours, it lit up in my memory, lol

The one pictured with the leatherwood is a VLTOR. The Troy was another, and the CASM was the third. I can no longer recall which one was able to accommodate the Extra Heavy barrel and extra lugs on the Super Match M1A. H2O MAN used to market them, he may still be on the M14 net if you're still interested. Other glass mounting options are Brookfield or CASM.

Nice. I have 4.308 myself. A M1-A I got right before the 2000 ban. Two REM 700’s. One 5R stainless and one Police model. And finally a HS Precision 2000.
    Don’t shoot them enough.

So from a six pound controlled round feed woods carbine to a 24 inch F-Class 1000 yard competition rifle the .308 Win (7.62 x 51) is more than just capable. Not to mention that it is one of the gentlest rounds on barrel throats. Some folks can get ten thousand rounds between barrel changes. I also haven't been able to shoot them enough since Uncle Sam quit picking up the tab for ammunition. LOL

I really like the .308, easy on the shoulder, capable of good accuracy, and affordable to reload.

    A pair of large-frame AR's in .308

    One of my M1A rifles

Another one of my large-frame AR's

Which one is the AR on a stick that you have used so effectively so far this year. Really respect the fact that you take extra steps to ensure humane harvests. BZ.

    That's a home-built rifle chambered in 6.8 SPC with Bison Armory's 18" Fulcrum barrel.
So you have multiple .308 Win rifles riding the pine during hunting season? Bet they ain't to happy about that. I've found that the 165 grain Nosler Partition loaded to .308 Win velocities handles everything Native to Florida. Things might change if there is a jailbreak from the Zoo. LOL.

I prefer light-weight projectiles in the .308 such as the 125gr Nosler BT or the Hornady 110gr V-Max. The .308 gassers get some action from time to time on hogs and coyotes.

The Savage gets some play time...

The Rem gets it's fair play time...

When you hunt from the truck, it's easy to take an extra rifle for fun...

Like the fat girl in the bar you can count on at closing...
I really increase the odds, drink at Home and the barmaid has been with me for almost 40 years, and neither of US need a vehicle to travel anywhere. LOL. But the 7.62 x 51 (.308 Win) really piggybacked off the 30-06's reputation. Just wonder what might have happened if McNamara and the "WHIZ KIDS" wouldn't have gotten involved? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whiz_Kids_(Department_of_Defense)#:~:text=Whiz Kids was a name,(DoD) in the 1960s.

I can find .308, just not 7.62x51. Would expect some milsurp, or at least something less than $1-$2.50 per round.
200 rounds $140 Isn't that $0.70 a round? Thread 7.62x51 Ammo 200 rds? Am I missing something? Or did you? Have yet to figure out how to link to another thread in the forum from my phone, so if another member could post the link to the above thread in the ammo for sale section of this forum for flappininthebreeze I'd appreciate it. Thank You
