Tearing down a Marlin 60 for a friend to clean it up as he's never in his life taken it apart and cleaned it and I come across a giant pile of plastic parts located in the rear of the buffer area. Can someone please point me in a direction as to identify this part and get it ordered to replace it? As you can see I pulled it out of there in about 100 pieces. I have no idea how his gun was still functioning with that crap all through the FCG and everywhere else it could fit. If you can give me a part number it would be EVEN more helpful. Thanks for any help or identification so I can get this thing back together for him.

I had the same thing happen with a friend of mine and his model 60. I can’t for the life of me remember the part number but it isn’t hard to find. Just google Marlin model 60 buffer and you should be able to find it. If I can remember correctly I got one from midwayusa.com and there are a bunch of videos on YouTube on how to replace it. Not difficult at all.

This is the only downfall of plastic/nylon/ poly parts. Someday this (glock)will be this, ( h and r athena) except you won't be able to still shoot it. .22 short pistol still fires is accurate and is app. 120 years old.. Ymmv

Thanks guys. I was able to find an updated buffer that looks to be of better material. I'm just amazed that this gun was still firing with the buffer in that many pieces scattered throughout the entire FCG and internals. I've never seen something like that just disintegrate that bad. It will literally crumble to pieces in my hands.
