Well that sucks, your bird's lost their roosts! And that is one dead turkey at 25 yds. I learned the importance of patterning last Saturday, was fortunate to have chance number two on Sunday.

Yeah, also if you gun dosent have a chrome bore, polishing can make it even better. One of the members has a lathe and tooling for cleaning up the forcing cones. The shotgun I use is a family heirloom. Rough but shoots great. Single Savage. It's one of those "ghost guns" no serial, lol.

    Nice bird sir.
Turkey hunting . . . I kinda miss it. To kill a nice bird takes time, patience, and old fasion hunting skill.
I killed a few in my days but mostly came home without . . or just having a "close encounter". --- SAWMAN

This is my first year turkey hunting. I've killed just about everything you can think of in the southeast, but a turkey is not one of them (I did shoot one with my bow during deer season years ago) I will say it's the hardest thing I've ever done. I suck at calling, but a good buddy/call builder gave me a crash course. I've been hunting public land, and have had birds gobbling 3 of the 4 mornings I have gone. Problem is, they are getting hung up with hens, or traveling on to private land. Each day has been a learning experience, and I can see why people get addicted.

Also, TSS is the truth. It's expensive, buy I would say it's like using an old Kentucky flintlock VS a modern centerfire rifle. If a bird gets within 60 he won't stand a chance.

John, good luck getting you bird..., yes sir it is addictive.... I work harder to get turkeys on my land than I do deer... and it pays off...The one thing most hunters do wrong is that they hunt turkeys like they do deer.... get there early, hunt for a few hours then home by 10am... saying the birds weren’t gobbling!!! Hen’d up!!!! Etc... my birds move around quite a bit... they don’t gobble all the time cause they’re not there... they’re somewhere else but they’ll be back sometime in the afternoon...if they have hens they don’t leave them very often no matter how good of a caller you are... but, if they know your there then they often come back later looking for you.... I sit all day and enjoy every minute of it... I killed my opening day bird in less than 45minutes and have let good birds walk by at all hours of the afternoon... good luck brother, I hope you kill a good un.....

In a new spot this morning. Tracks and a dusting bowl. Pix later. This area was just logged, stripped and trashed. Got everything all screwed up.

This is where scouting pre season and game cams come in real handy.

Nice shotguns, beretta? No Tss available for my old gun. 2 3/4. 12ga. Using #6 pheasant load. Federal hi bird. Works great out to 35 yards, prob would work further but won't take those long shots. Bought a box of hi bird #5 ($9) yesterday but haven't had time to pattern them yet.
Have friends that do run and gun hunting, I dont. * just had a turkey fly over me * lol. Gotta go.

Not many factory loads on the market. My buddy hand loads it and happens to have the exact shotgun.

    Any luck this morning?
