Decided to tackle building my own suppressor and it turned out great. Didn't really save any money but it's totally legal and didn't have to wait for long to get approved (25 days from submitting). This is for a 300BO subsonic and has 18 baffles, which I drilled, clipped, ported and vented on a drill press with an x-y vise and mill bits. The spacers were cut using a pipe cutter and sanded on a drill press with a socket and pipe clamp. This is a 8.5" can with a Griffin adapter.

Not sure how you guys feel about "solvent traps" here, I'm very happy with it and already planning another build for 5.56 supers (which should be a lot easier and cheaper since it would use way less baffles.

That's awesome! The ONLY thing stopping me from doing this or even ordering a built one is having to get the gAyTFs approval and paying an unconstitutional tax stamp. I just feel the govt doesn't have any damn business knowing or approving of what I'm constitutionally protected to own. Kickass job though on the machining. Have you done a before and after decibel check to see how much quieter it made it?

I hear ya. Between setting up the trust and paying the $200 for the stamp, it's a ton of money before even ordering parts.

No on the dB check, it's impossible to do a check without a fast SPL meter, which cost big bucks. I may be able to use one set up 50 feet away or something but, close to the barrell, it's not possible to get accurate readings. It's hard to video the sound with an iPhone too because of the way the phone auto adjust. I do have a professional multi-track recorder that I plan on using once I get the tube back from getting engraved.
