Spent the last two days doing flagpole maintenance. About 6 plus years ago, CINC Household poured an 8 inch thick pad around the flagpole. As the cement was setting up, she etched/pressed the old style Air Corp National Insignia into it. After it was all dried and cured, she painted it, we ran into a problem with the silver as it didn't take for some reason.

So yesterday she cleaned it all up, repainted it, and this time the new silver paint took. We'll give it a few days to dry completely, then she'll put an acrylic resin over it to seal it.

I took the pole down, gave it a good cleaning, so I can repaint it tomorrow. Pole will stay white. Today I painted the truck and cleat, I'm using white appliance paint on the pole and black appliance paint on the truck and cleat. The eagle topper will be black over a gold colored ball.

The new eagle topper will be here Friday, and the plastic dipped swivel clips will be here tomorrow.

Here's a shot of the flagpole pad. I might be bias but I think she did an awesome job on it. Along with a shot of the eagle topper.

That's outstanding. Beautiful Any patriot would be proud to have that adorn their yard. Having bought my first house last year I've been thinking of a nice place for a pole in my yard. You gave me a few ideas. I'll have to figure out how to get a nice baby blue color, being the infantry color and all.

That looks AWESOME. I've always been a fan of flagpoles with a US Flag adorning the top. Car dealerships gigantic flags, etc. The Uptown Station shopping center in Fort Walton Beach has a huge flagpole. When they fly it, it's really nice.

When we bought our home here, I was already planning on where the flagpole would go. It's one of my favorite projects to accomplish.

Such a respectful base like yours is extra special. Very nice job.

She bought the paint at Lowes, they or any home supply store could probably mix the color you need.

Your could get the Crossed Rifles cut/made out of brass, inset them into the cement, then do the surround in baby blue. Then seal it all.

I did right at 15 years before I was medically retired due to humans and land mines not going well together. Lol. You have great ideas and have given me even more to think about. From one Vet to another thank you for your service and thank your family for all of their service to this great nation.

I did just shy of 23 in the USAF before being medically Retired as a TSgt
My dad did 26 in the USAF as a MSgt
My brother did 20 in the USAF as a MSgt
Our son did 10 in the USMC as a Sgt
My FIL did 20 in the USAF as a TSgt
GGGF served in the Confederate Cavalry as a Pvt
GGGGF AND GGGGGF served in the Continental Army

I also thank you for your service and sacrifices to this county of ours.

My medical was due to a health condition that just reared its ugly head with no warning. Already did 2 deployments for Afganistan support and was getting ready to deploy for the pending Iraqi invasion when I had a heart attack. I had just shy of 23 years total service with right around 17 1/2 years of AD service. But I'm still considered an AD retiree with all benefits.

Did the following deployments:

Operation Desert Storm 1991 w/ 7th SOS
Operation Joint Endeavor IFOR 1996 w/ 5th SOS
Operation Joint Forge SFOR 1998 w/ 711th SOS
Operation Southern Watch 1999 71st RQS
Operation Enduring Freedom 2001 711th SOS
Operation Enduring Freedom 2002 711th SOS

Could also do a CIB in brass and press it into the cement.

First coat on the poles, you see the wear on the middle pole before I finished painting it. The truck and cleat are repainted already, new swivels installed on the new rope and the rope ran through the truck. Already for a Thursday reinstall. The new eagle topper will be here Thursday now instead of Friday.

Although unplanned when we started the maintenance, the pole and all will be done and back in place Thursday evening just in time for Memorial Day Weekend.

Flagpole is done, replanted in its sleeve, flag raised back up to her old position. Eagle is big enough at approximately 10-11 inches to be seen, and small enough not to be the focal point. Next size up was almost twice the size at approximately 18-20 inches.
