Remember when you could get good surplus ammo cans?? Then they started selling the lots with the lids off after they sat in the rain.

I almost bought those! I wanted 2 and have been watching the auctions figuring I could sell the rest. Dang it!

True story: In my previous life I was in charge of a bomb dump in Thailand in the early 70s. We shipped all our expended brass (mostly 20mm) back to the Philippines for recycling. Then they stopped accepting our brass. Started turning it into base salvage but they wanted it to be demilled. Tried several methods for demilling it (squashing with crane jack pads, running over it with tracked vehicles, etc.). Our final solution was to hire 2 Thai employees at 7baht/hr (35 cents) whose sole job was to smash each individual round with a 2lb hammer. Then off to salvage where it was sold locally and turned into candlesticks. Don't get me started about the local CE commander who put 75 goats in the dump so he wouldn't have to cut the grass. (It didn't work.)
