It is that time of the year.

Folks may want to check their generator's manual. I was surprised how much oil and fuel is needed to run for a week.

What about three year old treated gas? Safe to use?
    one year = ok

3 yrs= ? pour some in a clear glass to see what color it is..
if it was ethanol gas, I would not trust it at 3 yrs old. most gas treatments say they are good for 6months to a year

non ethanol gas and treatment go more time, maybe 2 yrs?

After two weeks of straight use and several weeks of intermittent use after Hurricane Michael, we ran ours dry, checked the oil, ran Ethanol Free gas through them, then put them both away.

Every 6 months, I pour a little E free gas in them, fire them up and let them run dry again.

Sad part in one of them prior to Michael hadn't been ran since 2006, so 12 years, and it fired up as soon as I put gas in it. Got lucky, now I check them regularly, as I don't think I'd get that lucky again.

I thought running it dry was suffiient too. Next year I tried to start it and it would not. I had to take it in to be serviced. Service guy saoid some fuel always stays in the car fuel bowl and can "muck" up the carb. He showed me the screw to remove to get out all gas.
