    That's a heck of a deal, I think the MSRPs on those are more like $1500.
    Yes, that's right. I was back and forth between the POF and a Springfield Saint Edge. I wanted something lighter than my other ARs. I couldn't come close to the $999.99 price, so I got the POF. I'm glad I did. I think they still have about 20 for that price(last I looked).

    Like others have said Colt is not what it used to be! For a $1K budget it would be very tough to beat the FN, although a S&W M&P Volunteer or Springfield Saint would be excellent choices and maybe a bit less expensive. Some of us may remember when the ABC's of AR's were Armalite, Bushmaster, & Colt! Bushmaster and Colt now are NOT the same quality as the current models! Not sure about Armalite haven't seen much from them in years. Good luck!

    Do like I have done and get two for less than a thousand (remember you have to feed it as well, so take any leftover and buy ammo):

    Deal of the day PSA complete upper inc. BC and CH 285 w/free shipping
    Deal of the day PSA complete lower 135 w/free shipping
    FFL transfer fee 20
    Total = 440
    To do the build I took the upper and snapped it onto the lower by using the two provided pins. Took me just a few seconds .

    So far over a thousand rounds with zero malfunctions, worked for me.

    Well after the fact but you can get a BCM complete upper w/ free BCG for under $700 and throw a PSA, or on sale, upper for under $200 and have a solid rifle. This is with a 22 conversion at 18 yds. About 30 shots. I expected about a 4" group with the AE ammo.
