I have a heritage arms I've been shooting for about 5 years now. Came with 22lr and 22m. 6 shot, 6.5 barrel, I think? Lol. You can catch them on sale from $99 -150. It has the zinc alloy frame, but have had no issues with it.

Run around to the local pawn shops...chances are you'll find several .22WMR's
There are literally TONS of options in .22WMR revolvers, as they've been made since the 60's.
    Hawes, H&R, Heritage....hrm...I'm noticing an H theme with revolvers...lol
Might as well get a 9-shot cylinder, more bang for the buck!
Most will be priced at $150 or less.

Although many have 6"+ barrels...cowboy revolvers for the most part.
It's fairly easy to cut one down and reweld/etc the front sight on...
if you even bother with a front sight for a 2-3" barrel, it's optional for a gutshot gun.
That also gives one a chance to learn how to give a barrel a good crown...
which is a skill that carries over to improvement of all firearms.

I vote for a nice one. My friend has several colts from his grandfather that cost a pretty penny but have made it 3 generations and will make 3+ more.

the $150s are fun, but they won’t make it through 1 generation.

I absolutely love my S&W 351 PD extremely lite weight and carryable.

Most of those I mentioned have been around for nearly 70 years...
the reason they're so inexpensive is there are millions of them.
The amount of 9-shot Hi Standard of Connecticut's alone is staggering.

I’ve got my Grandma’s H&R 9 shot 22 lr that she got in 1963. It’s always been an accurate little pistol that I used to shoot rabbits with in the late 60’s early 70’s.
