Let's talk gun room, garage, man cave, etc. mounts for universal applications on gunsmithing...
I have been doing some "quarantined" work on my gun room and find myself in need of a good bench rest for various tasks. Currently it would be for properly mounting a scope and making sure it's level and secure. I would also use it for other things that I typically use a vice and blocks for. I've looked at Tipton and Wheeler stuff but wanted some opinions. TIA

I'm thinking that having 2 points of contact(rest arms) would be more stable than just the block, i.e. something like the BEV block doesn't work. Although that's not it's intended purpose either I guess...

I have a Tipton Best Gun Vise...hardly a good cleaning holder...been considering their Ultra model for some of those tasks you mentioned

In order to perform what tasks?

I guess having a more universal bench mounting setup as some rifles you can't neccesarily lock down or stabilize with just a vice.
