With adjustable gas you can download your ammo to that (vels) of a 300BLK. Especially using the H4895 "60% rule" from Hodgdon.
I have shot 125's at 21-2200fps and can shoot the 165-168's at 1600 for some great fun. 110gr M1 carbine bullets can go damn near subsonic. --- SAWMAN

AND - - -> at the med/higher 300BLK vels some .308" varmint bullets would be good for deer and hogs if that was all you had. Although I would not reccomend it or endorse it because there are much better bullets <151grs. Some of the bullets designed for the 30-30Win would also be good with a reduced charge or in one of the shorter bbled (<10.6") 308/AR's. ---- SAWMAN

Look what I got. .309 165gr whitetail #1 :) Can probably do something cool with these. Have to work up a 308 blackout load or something for that fine single shot I got from you.

That is what is great about single shots . . . the versatility. No gas,no mag length, no COAL,subs no prob, super supers no prob (strong action),etc, etc.
You can make that gun a 300BLK +P pretty easily. --- SAWMAN
ADDED: I have plenty of new brass for that gun if needed. Hunting bullets also. Rechamber to 30-30AI for an added 200fps ?? Hmmmmmm . . .

Look at the hole the 5.56 makes then look at the hole the 7.62 says. I can attest the AR is just as accurate (for all practical purposes) at 300 yards as my Ruger 77 Hawkeye. Out past 300 yards my money would be on the Ruger.

I have shot most all weight bullets out of my wife's T/C Contender 23" 30-30AI. It will shoot the 220gr SMK great. Also the 210gr Bergers.
Right now I am working on loads using the 130gr Hog Hammer "pulls" that came out of the Remington loads. It seems to like those bullets also. Got several groups <.700" @ 50yds. (5 shots)
Single shot 308 bore guns are great fun. ---- SAWMAN
