7.62. High power. Gotta have one.
Well I'm yet to shoot it. It's heavy and longer barrel. I don't hunt, or do any long range drills, just like to make noise at the range. One side of me says keep it because I may need it or it's cool, but the other side of me says that 556 is good enough to protect my property if need be.
Bought a couple rifles and running out of room and this one may be on the chipping block.

If I did not hunt,I would not even consider owning a AR large frame. In the 223/5.56 sized gun there are quite a few offerings in the different chamberings, different power levels, trajectories, cost to shoot, ease of reloading, cost of factory loads, cost of "factory" reloads, etc, etc.
In the extremely longer ranges (600yds+) ,the bolt guns are the way to go IMO. And please remember . . you do not need a 6.5C to shoot those longer distances. ESPECIALLY if you are a reloader. --- SAWMAN

Several years ago, I bought a .308 AR (KAC SR-25). It is a heavy beast, but it is deadly accurate. It sports a 24" barrel which really aids in its accuracy. It is not a rifle I would want to lug around, but should the day come where I needed to set up in order to take out targets at long range, this rifle will do the job that no 5.56 AR will do with the same effectiveness.

I went through the same thought process. I wanted one bad, then got one, realized I don't shoot long range yet and have other rifles I'd hunt with. Sold it. Haven't had a second thought...

If I ever join a 500/1000 yard range I'll get another one later. For now, I'll stick to 7.62x39 / 5.56.

The length of bbl has nothing to do with the accuracy of the gun.
Compare a well loaded 223/5.56 bullet,of the proper weight and B.C.,coming out of a 24" bbl, with the proper twist (especially if it were a 1:6 or 6.5) and see how far out it will run neck and neck with the 308's or EVEN the 6.5C. How about a 223AI ??
IMO there are more choices for the longer ranges than in the large frame AR's.
But . . by my above I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. If I am still allowed . . these are simply my opinions (however right). --- SAWMAN

So, are you trying to talk yourself into selling it ? If so, details,
Yea. I need room but don't want to let it go but doubt I'd shoot it. Like having a jacked up truck. "look at me" lol
It's a psa stainless barrel. Bought it a couple years ago from a guy with the same story as me. He just didn't shoot it. Think it's got a mag through it.

I'm a paper puncher too. I have a factory-built DPMS LR-308 which is a great shooter, but I haven't fired it in quite a while. Plus, a couple of years ago I put together a PSA .308 with stainless barrel (from factory built upper & lower) & never fired it. Nothing against the guns; I really enjoy shooting the DPMS but just don't seem to get around to taking it to the range anymore. I don't seem to have a pic of the DPMS, but here is the PSA (I changed the PSA adjustable stock to fixed)...

** would require single loading out of an AR

It is all about accuracy. The end game. To ensure the bullet gets to the right place. If yours does that . . life is good to great.
Haaaaaaaay wait . . . I blew up that picture. I think I see powder burns on that target paper. --- SAWMAN
