Dang it that reminds me... It's almost time to renew mine. Does anyone know if you have to wait until the expiration date to renew it or can you renew it early?

I renewed mine a week early no problem. I don't remember if they used that date or the date on the old license for the new expiration. At worst you will lose the few days left on your old license.

They also let me renew my wife's without her being there. It was 3 days past expiration but she got a full year on the renewal. They will not let you do that if the picture is 4 years old. They require new pictures every 4 years.

Mine expires in October. This will be my first time renewing it...... Does that mean I don't have to get my picture taken again? I hate pictures.

That's what I did last time. The lady asked why I didn't look happy. I told her that it was because I was having to pay $30 for my aged given and constitutional rights..... She giggled.

Last year they asked if I wanted a new pic or was I happy with the old one. This year they did not ask. That was at the Bay Minette Sheriff's Office.

Good to know. I went to the Fairhope DMV. Someone was already getting theirs when I got there and still I was in and out in 10 minutes

That's not the DMV. The sheriff has an office in the Fairhope courthouse. The same lady has been renewing my license there for about the last 10 years. And I think JohnAL is right. If you renew early, your new license expires one year from the date you renew it. So, you may lose a few days that you have left on your license. On the other hand, I renewed mine late one year and the new date was one year from when I renewed it. I supose there were a few days that year that I really did not have a license.

Florida is 7 year but Alabama A.G. was talking about not accepting Fl. Non-Resident CCW, don't know which side he finally settled on to accept or not. Fla. Resident CCW is fine in Alabama. Always check with the states your traveling thru ahead of time to avoid problems.
