how about some cool pics of guns that have been Camouflaged. I need some new ideas on painting my guns so they are not so scary looking. This is a Ruger 10/22 with Tapco stock

This is my absolute favorite gun ever. Shoots like a laser, low recoil and a great suppressor host. The pattern turned out great too.

For rifles with Stainless Steel barrels like my Weatherby Accumark, I made a camo slide on barrel sleeve and use a inch of camo tape to anchor it. Easily done with free floated barrels, tested and did not change POI. Action was blue and stock grey/black so I didn't worry about them. Bedded stocks that apply pressure/contact under barrels can be done with more anchoring points and a POI test.

I originally used this method on waterfowl shotguns decades before Mfrs started their camo coatings and hydro-dips. I apply a heavier barrel coating of Rig Rag lube on the barrel exterior before installing the sleeve. My sleeve has a cloth interior and vinyl exterior that keeps water out.

This paint is claimed to be removable: "EZ Peel" . Haven't tried it but If you want to restore original looks later on or you screw it up; it could be a easier fix/redo.

Intricate detail como patterns are ok but mostly overkill as their advantage is in real close proximity. First goal it to break up the outline and straight edges of the object and the second is providing false perceptions of depth with sharp contrast as if one portion is in front or behind each other. Barrels which routinely stick up or protrude should be lighter colors (2) while stocks need a wider contrast of 3+. Don't put dark brown next to black as it just makes a larger single blob at distance; alternate light to dark with enough area coverage so they don't blend.

In spite of what you were issued in the Service or see advertised in hunting magazines: there is no such thing as a universal camo pattern. They are still working on invisibility. Lol

I'm not gonna camo a collectable gun, that would reduce the value, these are just "run of the mill" guns. I have never had a problem reselling any gun I have done a camo job on ....so far. Some people said the reason they bought the gun was cause the camo job attracted them.

I've got one of the neoprene bungy covers for my wife's bolt gun, but we've never used it. Heres my Turkey gun old stevens.
Nothing fancy, just green with decal.

Can anyone here can offer a link for methodology for painting such patterns on guns? I know when it is done professionally degreasing, that is getting all of the oil out of the metal is important.
I would generally like to keep my self-defense guns not camouflaged and to look as intimidating as possible. Maybe there is a way to do that.

RR 69, to your post #8 above . . . I believe that you are seeing this in a posted "for sale" add on this forum.
A weapon offered for sale is advertised for a price that is extremely low and it has not sold.
Because of the camo job ???

Not here, but I did see a fn 2000 that I would have bought, except it was midnight blue camouflage. Now it was a quality job but had it been stock I would have bought it.

I did this stealth hunter in cerakote. The original factory green was wearing off.
