What’s the strength of a castle nut? I toke one off with some channel lock pliers. Just want to know if I can reuse it. It has some scratches but no cracks. Some black paint can cover them up.

No cracks just scratches, if it screws on the receiver extension smoothly then your fine.

The nut is steel and your buffer tube is aluminum. The threads on the tube should give way before the nut. As stated if you can thread it by hand then it should be fine
