For pests and stuff at longer ranges.(over 100yds) Looked at Bear Creek barrels, prices are good but has anybody used them? Looking at getting 18-24 inch, not sure yet. Got my eye on a BCA 20 inch 1:9 wylde fluted heavy barrel. On sale for $89

    Twist?? Input? Thanks.

I’ve had some good luck with bear creek, I have a 20 inch 1:9 heavy; not fluted and it’s a 5.56mm. I’d assume their 223 Wilde would do just as well if not better. It shoots 1-1.5 at 100 yard with a 3-9x40 Nikon of coarse ymmv. I normally use 55gr, but it shoots 69 gr surprisingly well. People like to complain about them but I don’t see it. I also have a 10.5 inch 1:7 5.56mm from them and it’s a fine shooter. For 89 bucks it’s a price that’s won’t break the bank to give it a try.

Sweet, saw it on another thread. Best of luck my friend. I hope it’s a fine shooter.

Built it with my father, we had fun.
We later took the flash hider off after my father reminded me about barrel whip and went with a thread protector. I screwed the barrel on today....used the wrong nut. So I'll have to pull it off. Also used the larger scope that I got from rackinray. Fresh deer for lunch, coffee and some good time enjoying my father. I'll post pictures of the finished product later.

Love the LH side charger. Awesome! The only thing I don't love is the really small bolt/screw that connects the handle to the BCG. It loosened up while shooting, I don't think I can put blue lock tight on it due to the fact you have to unscrew it to remove the BCG for cleaning. The 450 has the same size bolt connecting the handle to the BCG.

I use small rubber "O" rings for mine. You can screw them down and they won't vibrate loose. DO NOT LOC TITE !!
Reynolds Hardware on Hwy.29 in P'cola has them.
I have so many that I change them every couple times I clean my gun. --- SAWMAN

The stud is .162" X 28 pitch. That is standard for all side charger knobs.
Those knobs come in several different colors, some with holes in them. I prefer black. --- SAWMAN

What sawman said, it work surprisingly well and they are cheap also. Have had friends that do this very same thing.

The "O" ring goes down over the knobs shaft and sits at the junction of the shaft and threads. ---- SAWMAN
ADDED: Do not overtighten the knob when screwing back in. If over tightened it will cut the "O" ring.

I use little o rings similar to that to dry fire my cz p07 so the hammer doesn’t slam the back of the firing pin so much, plus it’s quieter.

Got it. Thanks. I'll look around for some. The short threads make me nervous though wish it was longer/larger. Love the side charger. Spoiled now, especially the LH one.

Shot it with hornady ammo. Was able to put 3 in the small 2x2 squares on the shoot and see target @ 100 yards. Nikon scope and larue trigger. Super trigger. Also sighted in my nightvison rifle. Thanks.

Thanks, the side charger is my first full build.
    Love it.

It's a Photon XT by sightmark. Fixed 4.3 runs on 2 aa batts. Has 3 level ir built in but the evolve ir light I added works way better and makes the batteries last longer. Power cell recharables. Two gripes about the sight, 1 narrow field of view and the adjustment for the scope is very coarse. Well 3 gripes, the reticule moves around the screen to zero, I had to shim the scope / mount to keep it in the middle. ( cheap mount, not true) I'm thinking I need to spend the $$ and get a better mount. I looked at the ATN sight but this one is better with turn on and shoot vs turn on wait, fiddle and then have it glitch or freeze. Its black and white res. It has several choices for the crosshairs I use the T one. Red,green or white in color. Can hunt at night for $500.
