A couple of use went to active shooter training today for work. It was put on by these ex Police/Military guys that work through LSU and FEMA. It included live fire inside the building, and the sound was not exactly what I would have expected. When the firing was outside the open door in the hall it sounded pretty normal, but when the door was closed and it happened down the hall it could have been mistaken for something else. The course covered the Run-Hide-Fight peradom. It was very informative, and I think a lot more people should take these courses.

I’m getting certified as an instructor in that exact course through LSU/FEMA in March. Looking forward to it.

We used to have those drills when I was working. We were taught to run and lock ourselves in a storage room.

At the place I work there's a lovely choke point where I will wait for the Bad Guy with a Fire Extinguisher...
what happens when he walks through the door will be EPIC :D

That kind of thing tends to end badly...
reference Popeye's on 9-mile road...entire crew shot dead in freezer.
basically makes you a bunch of fish in a barrel.

Far better to scatter out then meet at a designated rally point about half-mile away.

Not saying it was my idea. It was corporate policy.
We were told to lock the door and don’t open it till the “all clear” comes over the intercom. Turn off lights and phones and keep quiet.
Actually, it was run, hide, fight which is pretty standard.
If you are in a place where you are near a door and can see around you, run.
If you are at your desk, hide.
If he’s breaking into your hiding spot, fight.
Corporations cannot tell you to fight and risk liability. That’s just the way it is.
