@oneshot I thought you might like to see these.
My good friend's wife, that I mentioned here, passed away the week before Christmas at 67 from a massive stroke. He and I have been together more than usual the past few weeks and nostalgia is really flowing from him, she would travel to matches with him.

The one the right is a Hook built M1...I am not real sure when exactly that it was built. Hook had just finished it when he walked into his shop. Hook looked up at him and said, "This is a good one, do you want to buy it?" He gave Hook $1,000 for it and put it in the truck. It was chambered in .308 and has remained in an unfired state until Hooks funeral where 6 blanks were fire in it. He didn't look at the rifle really until he got it home.

The one on the left was Nelson's personal M1A that he shot in matches with. When it was taken out of service it was rebuilt by Hop (spelling) it has remained in a unfired state since then.

He also has to receivers from the transition era between the old Springfield and what they are today. These are the new castings that are stamped T7 & T8....test receivers. Nelson told him it might not be a good idea to build rifles on them because he wasn't certain if those were hardened. Probably right before these receivers were made.

I know your not much on typing on the internet...
From how my friend talks...if Nelson liked you he would do just that....then there are the few that Nelson called my friend up after someone he sent to see him and would tell him not to send them back:D
