Hey yall, i inherited a Sharps slant breech carbine. Date stamp 1852.
Only identifying markings is:
Side of receiver: SHARPS PATEND 1852
Top of barrell just front of flip site:
SHARPS RIFLE MANUFACTURING CO. HARTFORD CONN.
On the tang behind the hammer: 9453
Unless the 9453 is the serial # i dont see any other #s for the serial.
See pics.
I dont have a caliper but i measured the octagonal barrel and it is 7/16" which is .4375 roughly a .44cal ?
Also has double set triggers. Everything seems to be functional. Steel is a little pitted, wood worn.
Just looking for info on it, year made, maybe worth. I have done some looking online, figured i would see what yall have to say.
Thanks in advance.
Brian
