Title says it all pretty much . NIB or used in VG or better condition with a good bore . I am a motivated buyer with cash in hand . Ballard rifling & JM stamped a plus . PM me & we'll talk about it . Thanks , Andy
I believe JM branded barrels have Microgroove rifling. So a rifle with a JM barrel was probably put together in Hartford. Marlins with Ballard rifling came about when Remington took over production and were put together in Ilion. The Marlins they made have the same rifling they put in their own rifle barrels. Makes perfect economic sense to use a barrel that has worked for Remington for years instead of retooling for Microgroove like Marlin was made in Hartford. It's my understanding that Ballard rifling stabilizes cast lead bullets better then Microgroove.
Microgroove will shoot lead sometimes pretty darn good but you have to size to .360-.361 instead of .358 . I'd have to but new moulds & sizer . It's also my understanding that the 357 & 44M 1894's were changed from microgroove to cut rifling in the late 1990's as were all the 1894 Cowboy series . So I'd much prefer standard rifling .
