I was wondering this too, and from what I have gathered from the info currently available, it seems like there was up to an hour between the initial reports and the final gunfight.

    Deadly Threat Defense LLC
    Firearms Training near Pensacola, FL

I heard base security were first on the scene then were joined by the Deputies who killed the perp

    Just saw this...
The Saudi Arabian man accused of committing Friday's mass shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola wrote an anti-American manifesto, according to a report by FOX News Channel.

Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, who killed three people and wounded eight others before a police officer shot him to death, condemned the United States as a “nation of evil.”

FOX cited AFP, which in turn cited the SITE Intelligence Group as the source of the information.

Alshamrani reportedly was a second lieutenant in the Saudi military and was participating in a training program for foreign military personnel. A Defense Department spokesman told CNN that Alshamrani's had been in the United States since August 2017. The program, funded by the Saudi government, included English language training, basic aviation and initial pilot training.

“America as a whole has turned into a nation of evil,” he reportedly wrote on Twitter.

The Twitter account that posted the manifesto -- which also condemned US support for Israel and included a quote from Al-Qaeda's former leader, Osama bin Laden -- has been suspended.

He also hosted a dinner party earlier in the week to watch mass shooting videos

NAS Pensacola is extremely large. The average non-DOD officer would not know where to go if the call went out as . . . Build. 402,73,132,etc,etc. Or . . . The Smith Bldg.,or any one of the many HUGE training buildings. The base also has a quite large area dedicated to active duty military family housing. Also huge barracks facilities with hundreds of rooms for single officer and enlisted.
This is an extremely old base, with quite a few unoccupied buildings that are 1,2,and 3 stories tall and have a footprint of several hundred feet+ X several hundred feet+. These buildings are known locally as the old O&R building, the old prop shop, etc, etc.
Some of the buildings are highly secure and no non-DOD police officer would be able to get thru the manned or unmanned checkpoint.
Any state, city,or county,LEO would most likely have to pick up a DOD police escort on the way thru the gate.
It is unknown to me what kind of gear the DOD police have quick access to or their level of training. --- SAWMAN

NAS police officer Hogue as among the first responders injured during the shooting. The post states that he was shot while responding to the active shooter incident.

Sad situation, but I was wondering the same thing. Which gunnstore will be under fire for selling the pistol to him cause he had a hunting license.

Channel 15 NBC WPMI HDTV 15.1 just announced that was exactly what happened. No more details other then that he had a hunting license.

This was the only media source that listed a 3rd wounded LEO, this one Navy. No other details on him.

    https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-f...+Reuters/UKWorldNews+(News+/+UK+/+World+News)

Several reports regarding Saudi mil students state some are detained(?) and "several are unaccounted for." Are they UA from the Base or floating around the U.S. like the terrorist was until he "Checked In" on the Base three days before the attack? WTF!

Well, I hope it was a bonafide gun store, and I really hope they used the Almighty and Infallible "Background Check", as required by law. Then we can at least point out how the gun was LEGALLY purchased, and a background check WAS accomplished, and it proves that background checks are NOT the answer to ram down everyone's throats.

There isn't a background check in the world that will alert on the hate in the heart of a criminal coward piece of shit like that Saudi waste of oxygen. May he be rotting in a special kind of hell...

True, for this scenario, "locked in the car" wouldn't matter. The Hurlburt policy is more beneficial to folks like lil'skeet who travel to/from base for work. The policy makes it possible for eligible personnel to carry concealed to the base, and be armed when they leave. There are LEOSA clarifications, too.

Basically, the Hurlburt policy has been in effect for a couple years now?
    //sarcasm on// "Isn't it bizarre that there haven't been a bajillion mass shootings by CWL-holding personnel?" //sarcasm off//

Big kid program. Serious consequences for buffoonery. So far so good.

Agreed that anything is better than nothing, and you would think the Hurlburt example might inspire other installations. Maybe this incident will make 'em take another look.

News conference today confirms: gun was purchased legally in accordance with BATFE rules. They did not clarify "when" or "where". They did mention it was purchased in Florida, but that may or may not have been a slip up.

I'm sure the gun-grabbers will try to spin it their way, regardless. They don't believe in facts or logic, just short-term feel-good knee-jerk decisions.

Show me someone who supports gun-control, and I'll show you someone who is either incapable of seeing the big-picture, or is an enemy of the Nation, or both.

News Media threw Uber's Lock & Gun under the bus.
All about the Loophole the Saudi used to buy the gun.

Here's the screwed up thing...under that loophole,
he could have bought an AR pistol...ostensibly for hog hunting...
and nobody would have thought twice about a .300-BO sold that way,
but a Glock 43 9mm has about ZERO hunting use. Hrm....

He could have easily walked in the door with an AR pistol concealed
in a laptop folio or bookbag...and quite honestly nobody would have
checked him over. Or even thought to. Remember that kids born 18 years ago
may not have been around for 9/11...or were way too young to understand
or remember any of it...like how many Saudi's were involved in it, or the
tiny little fact that Saudi's from E-Barracks were on those planes.

    Why a Low-Capacity 9mm?? Heck, Uber's sells HIGH capacity compact 9mms!!
A Taurus G2C holds 17 rounds and is almost the same size as the Glock 43!!
    Hrmmm...

Lots of things about this one bug me...especially the odd NASP LEO response.

But I gotta say, GREAT WORK ECSO!!
Showed the Broward Cowards how to handle a School Shooter...
ya freakin go in there and DOWN them!!

I felt that way too, until a neighbor (who works on base and was very close by) said that an NASP Officer was first on scene and confronted the shooter but was shot. That has been in the news. I assume that the DOD Police then followed protocols and focused on evacuation and containment until enough force arrived to ensure the matter was addressed fully.

Never gonna happen as a government program. 99.9% of Saudi officers are linked to the royal family in some way. Same goes for many of the other friendly partners we have in that part of the world. That's how it works there. Being a fighter pilot carries much prestige, and that prestige is not for everyone. You can be certain anyone in the pilot pipeline is considered special/worthy by someone very high up at home.

The news said a group of NAS Saudis were going to be expelled from the country.
More than a dozen Saudi service members undergoing training at U.S. military facilities are expected to be expelled from the U.S. following an investigation into last month’s deadly shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida, according to reports.

None of the Saudis targeted for expulsion is accused of aiding the Saudi second lieutenant whom authorities say killed three U.S. sailors and injured eight other people in the Dec. 6 rampage, CNN reported. But some of them were found to have ties to extremist groups and others are accused of possessing child pornography, the report said. https://www.foxnews.com/us/saudi-se...pulsion-from-us-after-pensacola-probe-reports
