I was on base when this went down. Apparently one of the Saudi Trainees shot the place up. I want to know why the F are we training these people? They got no business here as hostile as they are to this country both in Government and religion.

16 out of the 20 9/11 hijackers were Saudis and we are teaching the Saudis how to fly.
What is weird about that ??

This was from a thread from a while ago. Crazy that our military bases are one of the softest targets I know. I will be ending my career out there due to this stupid fuckin bullshit.

I have been working on military bases since 2006 in the panhandle and the South. The only part of my job I do not agree with is not being able to have a firearm with me or on me. I am a CCW & FFL holder and think it is bullshit that from the time I leave for work at 0430 until the time I get home at 1630 all I have to protect myself is a pocket knife. A lot of times I stop at grocery stores, auto part stores, fuel stations, etc on my way home.
From my time working on base, it is safe to say most people out here own and use firearms. Seems like a good way to disarm 100% of the people that would use a weapon for the purpose it was intended for. I think it would be safe to say that we are unarmed through our whole day, until we get home, and that is if they live off base.

Talk about punishing the decent, law abiding, citizens. That alone has made me want to find a different line of work all together, which is why I started my FFL.

I really hate to see Florida turning into a liberal state but it's been happening for years. I'll just keep moving until I eventually end up in Alaska I guess.

Lil skeet I agree with many of your points and I understand you are needing to vent but Florida has nothing to do with you carrying a firearm on a military base.

It’s a sad state of affairs that our armed forces are for the most part disarmed sitting ducks on base. The county sheriffs deputies were the ones shooting it out with this piece of trash? So sad.

We sell them planes we teach them to fly and maintain them. Saudi's aren't the only ones being trained. I know that at least in recent times we were training German pilots as well. The price of sell high tech arms to allies.

I never went on base because of the firearms regulations. An enterprising person could open a store near the gate to store firearms in pay lockers like at bus stations use to offer.

lil'skeet, before you swap careers, check with Hurlburt Field. It has a much more realistic policy concerning CWL's.

Hurlburt requires you lock your CCW in your vehicle. If you have to exit your vehicle for any reason with a CCW, you are expected to remain within "the vicinity" of your vehicle. I asked SFS for clarification of "vicinity" and they say that is three feet, but no, they will not post that in base CCW literature. Hurlburt's policy is better than not at all, but wouldn't have helped in this scenario; only made it more ironic that your ability to defend yourself was locked out in the car.

The end result of all of this will be super increased security that will make it a pain to visit the base.

True, for this scenario, "locked in the car" wouldn't matter. The Hurlburt policy is more beneficial to folks like lil'skeet who travel to/from base for work. The policy makes it possible for eligible personnel to carry concealed to the base, and be armed when they leave. There are LEOSA clarifications, too.

Basically, the Hurlburt policy has been in effect for a couple years now?
    //sarcasm on// "Isn't it bizarre that there haven't been a bajillion mass shootings by CWL-holding personnel?" //sarcasm off//

Big kid program. Serious consequences for buffoonery. So far so good.

LEOs from off Base responded, engaged and killed the terrorist, absolutely outstanding and heroic. I agree that it would be optimal to authorize mil/civ to CC/OC on bases but what the hell went on with those armed Security Staff ON THE BASE?

What's not being released: What was the Base's Security Forces (mil/civ service) response? I find it hard to swallow that off Base Responders beat every single mobile Base Security Officer to the Scene and found/engage the terrorist. How can that happen? With the history of prior attacks occurring on mil bases, I can't believe their wasn't an active shooter Plan, training and a designated quick reaction force within Base Security Duty Section to follow initial Mil Security Responders.

No mention of Base Security doing anything other than closing the Gates! Did Base Security set a perimeter and not go in? Did they go in and just didn't encounter the terrorist where they were searching? Did they just escort off base LE to the Scene? WTF!
