Looks like loss of the front sight screw could cause this. Check the schematic at:
    https://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/marlinglenfield/rifles-marlin/60-old-style

Old and new used same set up:
    https://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/marlinglenfield/rifles-marlin/60-new-model

If the front sight screw is missing, they have one for it:

Good luck with it, and be sure to use locktite on that screw when you replace it.
What an inexpensive way for a company to make a rifle, but yes check out the screw. It could be lost or sheared. I would use the original parts if possible. Use other means to secure if that is not possible. Not stated if gun was new or not and what was paid for it. The services of a gunsmith could represent a significant portion of the purchase price since they have to make a living just the same as any other craftsman.

thanks , i did find a very small set screw that must have slipped. I can see where it was and will slightly dimple with drill where it was so it will stay put. if the sight is not cantered i will ease it out and put blue lock tight on it.
    Thanks all
