Worked on this yesterday, got all the hitches out of the action. It's like greased lighting. Today load er up and a new problem shows up.

Work the lever and a traffic jam of shells blocks the receiver. Ok fish shells out.

Load one shell, work the action, flawless.

Load 2 shells in the tube, cycle the action, one flips out, the other loads.

Chamber one shell, put one in tube. Cycle the action, flawless.

If put more than 1 shell in the tube it tries to shove em all into the reciever.

I'm also having trouble with the loading tab/gate. It dosent snap up like I think it should. Have to fiddle with it sometimes.

On the bright side it's an improvement. Now have a two shot lever gun.

    Thoughts??

Ok. Pulled the bolt and put the lever back in to watch the lifter do its thing. Works fine. Lifter also flops in the reciever so no binding. Pulled the loading gate out. Shells won't stay in without it. Looking at it it maybe wasn't machined properly or my polish job got out of hand. Heres some pix of the spring loaded gate.

Have you a parts diagram to see the parts that may be involved? Seems like there needs to be a shell stop, to stop a shell from mag when one is fed.

From what I gather the lifter arm is the shell stop. Everything I read says replace the lifter. Took the entire gun apart because I could see a staked pin that had moved a bit.(spring loaded hook on the lifter) Put it back in with rocksett (kidding). Still no joy.

On the bright side I can load one in the chamber, push one into the tube and cycle both out like lighting.(I mean really, as fast as I possibly can) SO that gremlin is gone, just need to solve the lifter, shell stop issue. I think it's just off by a hair, read about bending the ramp up a bit.... Gonna need more time and thought to solve this one.
I think spare parts are going to be an issue though unless one of the other rifles uses the same parts. Fingers are sore from all the loading, futzing around.

Another good thing is I'm starting to understand the how and why of the internals of the lever gun. Learning about something new.

THIS!!! Go to the Link, 7th Post has the answer/result. Prior posts lay the ground work. Pics don't open unless you a member but you probzbly dont need them. Basically a Carrier and Lever contact surface/timing issue.

3 wraps of duct tape on the end of the lever and it works!!! woohoo. So it's something with the cuts/size of the north end of the lever. Now to figure out what cuts/ length and how to build it up. ************* BIG thanks for that wildrider666! WooHooo!!! :)

Yep. Have to narrow down where on the lever. Just have to find somebody that welds stainless. Very small weld though. Yeah, saw the bending thread. Heat sinks, torch etc. Good excuse to get a big hoop! :). Thanks again for the link.

I should take it to rackinrays house, I bet he's bored...

Alright, this thing is making me nutz. Time to throw it back in the gun room a revisit it another day. End of the lever doesn't even see to do anything with the lifter. It worked when I wrapped tape around it, but only for a bit. At a loss. Fool with this thing another day!

Some of them work good. I've got a rossi judge carbine that's alot of fun. But I will admit till I switched to a .452 bullet it was not real accurate.
