Absolutely nothing, say it again! -jk.
Just took a look in my gunroom at the safety's on my firearms, 25 firearms, long guns and 20 different "safetys". I never really thought about it before, why are they all so different? Location, activation, type. Pistols and revolvers are pretty much the same.
My 4 favorite safetys are on the ruger mini 14, savage 10, mossberg shotgun and the good old 1/4 cock found on hammer guns. (SA Revolvers too) yet and still NO safety on da revolvers. In the "old days" I dont think anything had a safety.(I'm sure some did, I dont know for sure) I think the addition of a safety was for marketing and to boost sales not to keep anyone safe.
