Hey guys, just bought an FN 1951 Mauser in .30-06 that looks both military/commercial at the same time... I bought it to get the action in the event I ever want a rebore project but the rifle is intriguing.... will post a pic or two.... some internet experts say its a model 50 made in 1951 due to the stamp... difficult to really tell... they say most of the commercially made hunting rifles didn't have serial numbers but the receiver, barrel & bolt have matching serial numbers like military... it never had a rear sight i don't think and looks like a factory build as the bolt is turned when the military were straight bolts...it has the customary Bishop stock of the period for the commercials rifles as well... Its not stamped JC Higgins like I thought so not one of those... will shoot it and see how well it does... if its a shooter I may change the mounts & add it to the hunting collection... any thoughts?
