Good morning all, I'm selling my CMP-bought 1954-serial Springfield Armory Special Grade M1 Garand chambered in 30-06. This meant that they gave it a new Criterion barrel, new USGI stock, and re-parkerized receiver. I have about 500 rounds through it and it functions in an orderly manner. I admit, I never took it apart more than performing basic cleaning since I am scared to break something. Accuracy is very satisfying, hitting the 600yd+ plates up at Core Shooting Solutions even with regular old me behind the wheel. Condition-wise, it is 90% there, a few dings in the stock and there was a tiny bit of rust in the left adjuster for the rear sight that I somehow missed cleaning.

The gun comes with the CMP case, more clips than I even know what to do with, a sling, two ammo cans with 30-06 brass and maybe ~30-40 actual rounds of M2 ball, and a couple bandoliers for you Band of Brothers role players (came with the CMP ammo tin).

    Price
    $1,100 cash, no trades.

Thanks! I don't regret buying it and waiting for the CMP mail order if only to see the smile on my dad's face. His service rifle was the M1 when he served in the Korean Army in the 70's and he remembered exactly how to operate it believe it or not. Unfortunately I rarely shoot it, he isn't a gun enthusiast, and it's inevitably going to sit until it wastes away.

Gents, pending sale to a family friend back up North. Thank you all for the comments! Longtooth is selling one if you want a nicely aged example.

That's ok . . . jj was just looking for another reason to head to the coast.
I gotta believe that he has found a new "hobby" over that way. --- SAWMAN
