Very good questions, I could not locate any info on the speed it needs to fully expand.

This load is supposed to be 1,953fps or so at barrel. All shots under 100 yards. Using the ballistic calculator. 50 yards = 1818fps + 991 ftlb at 100 yards= 1691fps + 857ftlb. At 150 1570fps + 739ftlb. Zero at 50 yards. Of course the comp is using friggin 16 inch barrel info. So WAG.

Good deal. I screenshot the post so I dont loose the info. Powder coated bullets? Lead? So you ran 20gr of h110 and the 110gr bullets. Accurate? The #'s look real good not far off from the 16 inch. *** What primers, small rifle or the magnum? Thanks.

Per https://www.sinclairintl.com/reloading-components/bullets/rifle-bullets/30-caliber-308-135-grain-ftx-bullets-prod99029.aspx, it might be 1600fps.

Did not really test for being accurate from the 10.5" But I know they are very accurate from the 16" I would guess there would not be an issue either way.

Primers are just normal small rifle primers. The only time I use Magnum primers if for my .308 Subsonic loads.

Yea I bought alot of those powder coated bullets from leatherhead bullets. They work very well and were cheap. They look like this. Not sure if leatherhead bullets is still around?

    Some here. $16 a hundred.

Why use the magnum primers on the subs? To light off a smaller charge better?

Also what is the twist on the 10.5 Tks

    The 10.5" is a 1-7 twist.

The reason for the Mag primers on a .308 subsonic load is depending on bullet weight I might only put 8.5gr of 700x or less. That is not very much powder in that big space.

I have tried all the BS interweb crap out there like adding a filler to drilling out the primer pocket holes to 3/32 and all that is a total waist of time. you can get the same result without all that mess. So I have my personal recipe for my Rem 700 16" TAC for an 180gr and 220gr bullet.

Well no bullets yet! Last night was movie night with my bride and today was move furniture into my parents new apartment. Maybe tomm. Gonna load 10 135gr,10 150gr, 10 165gr and shoot and see what's what. The 150 and 165 are not flat base so we will see. The load sheet in the box shows a 100gr bullet load. There may have been a 90gr as well. Barnes bullet loads are listed too.

First bullet, using new brass. 135gr ftx.
May have to pull it, set it deeper than I wanted to. I also need some kind of adapter to use my auto disk measure as the 300 size is not threaded like the 45 and 9mm. Sucks, always something.

First 10. Loadings a pita. Using the auto disk free hand. I'm gonna need the short charging die. Part # 90668 to use the auto disk. I can feel the case lip, should it not be rolled in?

    Rounds measure 2.040. :)

Some people crimp the Blackout; some don't. You should test for accuracy with and without a crimp...that will tell you what you should do. Crimp too much and the brass will bulge below the crimp and prevent the round from fully chambering. I only crimp (and then only a mild crimp) my Barnes 110gr handloads with a Lee factory crimp die 1) Because Barnes recommends it And 2) Because my testing in my guns showed it improved accuracy with that bullet a little bit. I do not crimp any other of my myriad of Blackout handloads and have found no reason to do so. In fact, with my frangible bullet loads, a crimp can cause the bullet to break at the crimp due to the fragile nature of the frangibles.

If you decide to crimp, I'd recommend the Lee factory crimp die because the case length is not as critical with it.

The set came with 3 dies. One is supposed to be a crimp die but I have adjusted it several times, dosent seem to do anything? Lee pacesetter kit. 3 dies

So you cannot feel the crimp die’s differing amount of pressure being applied to the case mouth as different adjustments are tried as per the instructions? If so, maybe the die is faulty. The real test is accuracy with different crimps and OAL and bullets and powder charges until it meets your goal.

No dont feel any resistance and see any rub or anything on the case. Looking inside the open die all I see is 4 even cuts in a collar. You can look all the way through.
Called it quits for the night. I'll do some reading and take another look in the morning. Thanks for the help/info.

Loaded some 150gr GMX measures 2.142 needs to be 2.110. I'll seat just a bit. These are some of my $12 a box clearance from acadamy. :)
Used the 9mm expander die to attach the auto disk powder feeder. Ordered the correct part for it yesterday. It's not touching the case. Also using less powder than the 135gr. One thing I do like about loading these is if you were to double load the bullet would not fit! Unlike the 45.
