If your talking . . . cutting a small section of the bottom side of the scope cap, that is directly above the forearm . . . that will not work. [ Been there, done that ] The Butler Creek scope cap will not stay on the objective of your scope after cut.
There MUST be ample space between the forearm or bbl of your weapon and the scope/scope cover. If not, during recoil, they will touch and your accuracy will degrade. [ Been there, done that.] ---- SAWMAN

There is enough clearance for 5 sheets of printer paper. Thinking I need a little bit higher scope mounts.

Look at all the space between the top of the barrel and bottom of the scope. I'm afraid if it was at my house, I'd dig out the grinder or hacksaw. I have ruined many nice things.

Every time I visit with jj I make sure to teach him something,so he pretty much knows it all now. --- SAWMAN

If you go out to see him . . . Don't stare at his "rug". If he "installs" it before his first cup of coffee sometime it is sideways. ----- SAWMAN
