You're right, I've had a bunch of JD mowers. They are well made and long lasting but I swear every one of them flaked paint. None of them looked like they primed them.

Never. It's their only downfall. I just picked up a replacement that's only been used two seasons and it has the paint flaking off the edges. It's a shame they don't prep these homeowner tractors better. They can't be saving that much on production costs to rip people on a paint job for the last 30 or so years

I bought it's bigger bro several years ago and before it had 20 hours on it, tons of the paint flaked off. I tried to contact JD several times and never a response. I looked on several forums and determined it was an issue with alot of box store JD's because of the dipping process. After NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, I will never buy another JD mower. Bad thing is, I sold an 80's model JD and bought this new one but the 80's model actually looked new compared to this piece of scrap metal!!! Mechanically I have no complaints about the newer one as long as you keep up the maintenance! Shouldn't have an issue selling it, good deal!
