I saw this in the Scott’s/Mike’s Outdoors flyer and figured I would pass it on. Sounds like pretty good money and a good way to get rid of some nuisance animals.

I asked how many had entered, but they said they did not know. Unfortunately hogs do not cooperate enough to guarantee they will be out during the contest.

If you take in your last years W-2 forms that prove you made under $17,500 ( like I did) they will let you enter for $31.50. ---- SAWMAN

I asked them if barred hogs would be weighed. They said "yes".
I asked them if obviously caught hogs would be weighed. They said "yes".
Waaaaay too much room for tomfoolery. I said . . . "Not gettin' my money".
    Guessing . . . a 310lb+ boar will win and a 245-260lb sow will win. --- SAWMAN

WOW !! I missed that one a mile.
Bruce and I both have killed some that was bigger than that.
Probably due to limited time allowed to weigh in. Given a week, the hogs would have been much bigger. --- SAWMAN

"My main farmer" wasn't gonna start turning peanuts until Friday (a small field done by one tractor), followed by the big field on Saturday done with three tractors. Thus I felt my and Sawman's chances were not good. Hogs have not wanted anything to do with 2 traps set since last year (38 caught last year)...won't go in or near the traps.

Your best chances for a big hog is a lone boar. However some of the bigger boar hogs travel at the somewhat distant rear of a sounder.
I killed a 250+ lb boar hog some years ago over off of Hwy. 79 in the club that I was in with Frank. It bent the crap out of our lifting equipment. ---- SAWMAN
