I am building an 300 Blackout AR pistol, I have run into a problem. I bought a Ballistic Advantage barrel 9.5 inch, and a Tool Craft Nickel Boron Bolt. When using Forester Gauges the GO gauge will not close.

Do I need to send the Barrel back?

Maybe you have a carbine gas tube and needs a pistol gas tube? If it's a Carbine gas tube, it'll be too long on a pistol barrel, holding the bolt back from full battery.

*remove the gas tube, then try it for full battery.

It will go full battery when I have no gauges in. This gas system I bought was pistol length, and the barrel is also set up for pistol length.

    To elaborate a little.
    The GO gauge is 1.0790
    The NOGO gauge is 1.0820
    The FIELD gauge is 1.0850

Is that printed on the gauges or actual measurements confirmed?
"GO" is sitting flat on bolt face and rim under extractor?
    Printed on gauge not Confirmed.
Only with pressure. Am I supposed to remove the ejector first?

Yes, ejector needs to be out, I always check headspace on a stripped bolt with hand pressure only

Make sure to stick your thumb over the ejector when you pull the punch out after drifting the pin, that sucker will fly

Back to simple. We're at critical point that might reject a part. Clean lugs on both parts again then swab out chamber, you probably inspected for abnormalities.

    Does it chamber factory ammo?

Do not pull the bolt back and let it fly/slam forward on any of the headspace gauges which a lot of ignorant people do.

That result will only matter with that ammo brand, brass, Lot and OAL, then you buy different ammo that doesn't fit, not good. A lot of folks don't use gauges on Factory assembled barrel/ext (previous Thread).

If gauges are "correct to SAAMI Spec" and proper proceedures were used, there is a issue and decission to make.

If it does not chamber one really does have a problem for sure. Normally headspace gauges are used to tell if the chamber and bolt face together have safe dimensions or that is to say is within SAMMI specification. Might not tell you anything about the throat and other things.

I am going to clean everything up again, remove the ejector, and re-try. I have a tool coming to help remove the ejector.

I re-cleaned the barrel. I took out the firing pin to see if it would chamber a round, and it did with no problem. I am still waiting on the tool so I can remove the ejector. In the mean time I was going to check the gauge with a caliper to see if it is correct. Where do I measure from?

The average hobbyist is quite limited to what he/she can measure with any run of the mill micrometer. Below is a Saami spec chamber drawing.
1.1021 is the max length for the shoulder run out for a minimum chamber. To determine the other measurements requires equipment that is beyond the means of most people. I know of one gunsmith in town that likely has equipment that can do it. It is used for precisely measuring parts so that he can precisely replicate them. you must be able to measure angled surfaces.
I do not believe that head space gauge will measure the throat or length of the neck. I believe it only determines if the shoulder of the case is correct.

Well I guess I will just wait until I get the tool to remove the ejector. If it still won't work then I am not sure what to do.
