Primary had theirs for 28.99. Can bundle 3 and ship for less than 100. I believe shipping was 8 bucks and change

Palmetto does not have free ship on the budget lowers

Yes, shipping is $9 per lower when they're $29.99
I've seen them offer free shipping when they're priced at $39.99 ...no bargain there.

I’ve never understood the appeal of a cheap lower that’s going to be assembled with quality expensive components.

You write "cheap" as if you mean "low quality".
My experience with "cheap" lowers from PSA is they are "inexpensive" but still quite fully functional and universal spec.

I've never understood the appeal of an expensive big name lower what was probably made in the same factory as the "cheap" one, but YMMV. :decision:

There’s some truth to that, some where I have a list of who makes what and who they make it for. The list isn’t any where as long as one might think. What I do find is that the quality control is lacking in the less expensive brands. You odds of getting an out of spect lower goes up as the price goes down.

Specs and acceptance/denial criteria are different based on who they are made for regardless of who is making them. Some companies accept a lower standard of QC.

PSA stuff that I’ve had experience with has all been good quality, much better than I’d expect for their price range. In my opinion they are one of the better if not the best bang for the buck around.

I would love to see that list (as I'd bet others would as well) if you wouldn't mind posting it. TIA

Is it that price plus tax?

Or is it that price plus tax plus FFL fees...

Price before tax and before $5 BG check. But the good side is, doesn't matter if you buy 10 lowers, they charge a 1-time $5 fee for the BG check and No administrative fees, unlike some private ffl's.

Other than my first one back in the late 1980s-early '90s(?) (PAC West ARMS, PWA lower), I have built (i.e. assembled) ARs using lowers only from PSA & Anderson, and I have factory ARs only from DPMS & Bushmaster (although I owned a Colt HBAR years ago). All seem to be fine to me, but maybe I'm missing something the more expensive ones offer and just don't know it. I'd assume the finish is probably better on the more expensive ones, but to me an AR just isn't a "high end" rifle. I have a Spike's barreled upper on one and it's fine but not special IMO. Again, YMMV

FLT - Thanks for the list!

Usually the biggest place I've noticed issues is the mag well being too tight to reliably drop free mags. The vast majority of the time most lowers work fine though.

Interesting; I never noticed that issue...maybe I've just been lucky.

It's hit or miss. You get a good one or you don't. Most are fine.
