I know you all like the pics of my world travels. We are in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and it's just Beautiful here. The weather is perfect not to hot and not to cold. I think I have found a new favorite place to retire too over Riohacha, Columbia I really feel in love with that place also :)

Friend of mine made fairly frequent business trips to the Canary Islands - always came back raving about the roasted goat...

Kendive, thanks for posting that fact page. That is a fascinating piece of equipment. When you drill is the boat held in place by anchors or some sort of thruster system? I don't see how anything could contain this monster.

thrusters and within a foot, that's really incredible. How rough can the weather get before you can't hold it that close anymore?

They don't mess with vessels like this. They like the merchant ships that have a total of 6 crew members... We have 150 to 200 people on board at all times. It would be a nightmare for them...

Also if in that kind of area there will be armored boats patrolling at all times next to the vessel.

I can attest, a dead short on high voltage stuff is quite violent. Glad the equipment is working properly! Lol

more cool pics! I like them. I was offered a job as a crane operator on some kind of an offshore drilling rig once. I have 100 ton lattice work qualifications and the money was good and it was a 30-30 deal which is right up my alley. A buddy of mine that worked offshore advised me not to take it. He said it was the worst job on a rig. I stayed with my other job.

I don't think Crane Op's have it that bad out here. I work on all the Electronics and of course help the Electricians when they need help. I don't think I would want to do anything else...
