Retired Air Force, I'm an avid militaria collector along with being a milsurp weapons collector, and a military history buff. I've been reading through a lot of the posts here, and thought it be nice to join a local forum per se.

My toy collection thus far, they keep me busy, shooting, cleaning etc.

Hey, that's an awesome list you got there. How are you on Harley Davidson's? Might need a place to lay my head during Thunder Beach next week

    Welcome to the forum.

    Welcome tot he forum.

No issues with bikes, and you would be welcomed, but the house is still a wreck courtesy of Hurricane Michael. My entire gun collection is oiled, and stacked like firewood in a closet. Waiting to the get the upstairs fixed, so CINC Household and I can crash up there, while the downstairs repairs are getting done. The storm did a major number on the house.

Gonna to try this one more time, each time I edit it for typos it gets deleted.

I'll see if I can't dig her out. She is severely pitted under the woodline, due to improper storage after the Government forces intercepted the weapons. I look past her flaws, due to the rifles part of history.

Speaking of Czech weapons. My grandfather on my moms side was deported from Holland in 1943 and sent to Czechoslovakia to be used as slave labor. He was sent to work at the Waffenwerke Brünn I arms factory. The DOT 44 Mauser I have, was made there and he could have very likely touched some part of that rifle. He survived the war and returned to Holland, but spoke very little of his time there.

Hey, whenever, sounds like you have many irons in the fire there.. Good luck with your house.. Just know when you get the chance you have a pair of eyes over here wanting to see..

Per the pitting.. heck that's practically the norm with those South American guns.. Jungle heat and humidity yeech.. Its amazing it survived... And some guns that have been there look it..

And Speaking of surviving, wow hell of a tale from your Grandfather. Neat to have something that was near
    him like that..

    Many thanks for sharing ..

I need to get a few rifles checked out for the wife to take to our local range for ladies day (Women get in free, and the RSO are all women also). So when I'm in there I'll hunt her down, and get a few shots of her for you. I'll PM you when I get her posted.

This range trip she's taking my AR, Marlin 39M, and Mossberg Plinkster, plus my Tausur PT 111 G2, and her CZ 83. Next outing she's taking the AKM, SKS, AR, plus a M91, M91/30, M44 Mosin Nagants, and the Garand.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Been tearing up the forum reading the older posts, gleaning new information and learning a few tricks along the way, and learning who the SME on certain guns is.

I'm a purist when it comes to my milsurps, so I'm always on the look out for the few missing parts to complete my rifles. Example slings, cleaning rods, sight hood, bayonets.

Example one of the parts I'm seeking is either illusive, priced above what I'm willing to pay or the cause behind a bidding war driving the price higher than it's worth.

Welcome Aboard. There is a mystique surrounding Military firearms, we can find out their general history but the untold secrets lay in their individual paths. Each stands among few survivors from those in front or behind it. I collected old mil guns for a while but they have all found new billets. Lol

You're right, while we can unlock part of a milsurps story, there is much that will remain a mystery.*

Example the 1863 Snider Enfield Afghan bringback I have. Hard to imagine an 1863 dated rifle still being used into the 21st century. What history did that rifle witness and participate in.

Of course it could be a Khyber pass special.. Made last year, but with old dates on it to allow people to bring them back as antique...

Pictures Pictures please add another to your list :)

By the way in a sane world the Khyber pass would be a vacation spot for gun lovers...

    Pictures will be forthcoming.

This one passed the test, it's an actual Enfield made P1853 Muzzleloader made in 1863, upgraded with a Oct 1866 Snider Breechloader conversion barrel. It does however have an Afghan made replacement trigger guard sling swivel. There is some very faint Farsi script on the buttplate.

Having seen some of the Khyber Pass copies first hand, you can tell the difference real quick.
