I just shot about 100 rounds of White box Winchester after cleaning my gun with Ballistol. The inside of the gun looks like it has sand in it. Is that just the dirty White box Winchester?

Most likely, that is some of the dirtiest ammo I’ve ever shot.

Ballistol for most jobs but will use Goo Gone for cleaning really dirty bores. Started using it years ago to clean air rifles and discovered it did a better job on pistol, rifle and shotgun barrels than Hoppe's #9.

I was curious, Goo Gone has:
    PPG-3 METHYL ETHER.
    KEROSENE (PETROLEUM), HYDROTREATED.

If type used is scented, it has Citric Acid.

    I use Breakfree CLP.
Seems to keep going up in price so last year I ordered a gallon off Amazon and split it into 4 quart squirt bottles.
3 buddies and I each got a quart for about $22.

Buy in large quanities then split it. Yep,that is the way to do it. Ya'll should try to do the same with ammo and/or reloading components.
I still got some in the gallon jug that I retired from the military with. Same with Hoppe's. --- SAWMAN
