Sounds like this is currently ongoing. So far multiple casualties in at least two, maybe three locations.

Says an Australian man did it, but I thought they banned guns there! :boink:

I thought I'd read last year there were more firearms in Australia than they had prior to the Port Arthur shooting. It'll be interesting to see wheat he used, how he got it etc. I'm not savvy on either countries gun laws but clearly there's not enough...

    Just a few thoughts:

    - I know this is a gun forum, so we're naturally going to have interest in the weapon used, from normal curiousity.
    - I know this is a gun forum, so we're naturally going to have interest in how this event may impact future firearms laws.
    - The fact is this act was committed by a criminal. Planned out, and apparently with help from others. Criminals will get weapons regardless of laws. If every firearm on the planet was disintegrated instantaneously, the criminals would use something else to achieve their goals.

It's a weird balance of discussing the gun and the gun laws, vs not playing into the Anti-gun narrative that "it was the gun's fault"...

That video link still works. It is disturbingly similar to a video game; except there is no one shooting back.
That shooter needs to be kept away from society for the rest of his life, however long that ends up being.

Regardless of your feelings about another culture, it is the act of an evil coward to calmly assassinate unarmed people in a place of worship.

Even in Armed Conflict, there are laws/rules/expectations. Those mosques aren't military targets, or full of specific high-value individuals. This was an act of desperation, hate, and cowardice.

If you want to put a tactical/strategic spin on this: the shooter only succeeded in spurring the Muslim extremists to retaliate, and it will cause even more pro-Muslim and anti-gun rhetoric.

Every aspect of this event is detestable.

I saw the longer 16min video last night and read the killer's "manifesto", he's just a shitbag trying to stir up hate and division.

From his manifesto, some of which was done in a Q&A format, what he said pertaining to the 2nd Amendment...

Page 6: - Why did you carry out the attack?
...Finally, to create conflict between the two ideologies within the United States on the ownership of firearms in order to further the social, cultural, political and racial divide within the United states. This conflict over the 2nd amendment and the attempted removal of firearms rights will ultimately result in a civil war that will eventually balkanize the US along
political, cultural and, most importantly, racial lines. This balkanization of the US will not only result in the racial separation of the people within the United States ensuring the future

of the White race on the North American continent, but also ensuring the death of the “melting pot” pipe dream. Furthermore this balkanization will also reduce the USA’s ability to
project power globally, and thereby ensure that never again can such a situation as the US involvement in Kosovo ever occur again(where US/NATO forces fought beside muslims

and slaughtered Christian Europeans attempting to remove these Islamic occupiers from Europe).

Page 11: - Why did you choose to use firearms?
I chose firearms for the affect it would have on social discourse, the extra media coverage they would provide and the affect it could have on the politics of United states and thereby the political situation of the world. The US is torn into many factions by its second amendment, along state, social, cultural and, most importantly, racial lines. With enough pressure the left wing within the United states will seek to abolish the second amendment, and the right wing within the US will see this as an attack on their very freedom and liberty. This attempted abolishment of rights by the left will result in a dramatic polarization of the people in the United States and eventually a fracturing of the US along cultural and racial lines.

Page 19: - Won’t your attack result in calls for the removal of gun rights from Whites in the United states?
Yes, that is the plan all along, you said you would fight to protect your rights and the constitution, well soon will come the time.

Hopefully, not long . Every minute he’s breathing is a waste of oxygen.

But were they really innocent people just observing religion?
What we found in the Sandbox was that there were just as many espousing hate and Jihad as were not. Or at least, some were cautious in choosing their words when outsiders were present. Some didn't care. Islam's goal IS to take over the world totally, one way or the other. Read the Koran for yourself and decide, they've been kind enough to have it in an English translation.

Maybe the question that should be asked is, were they the nice ones that want to take over by conversion? Kind of like the Seventh Day Adventists?? Or the ones that want to take over by the sword?? Like the Catholics used to ;)

It's really all the same thing, we're just doing it all over again, century after century. No wonder Space Aliens don't want to come and "chat" with us...if you were watching how this world works from space, would YOU do anything other than grab a few for samples, maybe the occasional probe & release?? And hope we all eventually became more advanced before we blow ourselves up??

    IKR?
Someone has to ask the tough questions!!
And those questions lead to other questions and some more question over there...nahhhhhh
Humans suck. Get used to it. Short of Godzilla showing up or a Giant Meteor of Doom making a giant Baked Alaska out of half the world, maybe on the offside the worst flu bug ever takes out BILLIONS...we got too many idiots on this planet..and those who are growing up now aren't being taught Critical Thinking, they're being taught to OBEY. Like it or not, everything we know is going to go to the enemy. They've got time on their side, and they've had that since the McCarthy Hearings. McCarthy was mostly right. Communism is a disease. And since we didn't root it out then, it let Socialism spring up...and Socialism is willing to work with ANYONE and do ANYTHING to further its goals. Look at America now...do you recognize it??
    Do ya really??
Or do ya have to dig deep to find some of what was good anymore??

So, I'm hoping we can wake up a Real Chaos Theory Party Animal!!
Everyone face South and pray three times a day for...
    THE RETURN OF GODZILLA!!

He's hiding behind that giant door in the Antarctic they found.
    just sayin' ;)

Jihad, Crusades, Holy War... religious fanatics are always gonna exist. That doesn't mean every member is a bloodthirsty killer.

After 20-years on active duty, I've spent many years of my life in take-your-Pick-a-Shit-istan. They're all populated by the same flavor of cultures.

    Among the many lessons learned:

    1) The United States of America is the greatest Country in the world.
    2) The world is much smaller than most people realize.
    3) Evil exists, and it's natural momentum is to spread.
    4) Good exists, and it surfaces in surprising ways.
    5) Not every Muslim is your enemy, just as not every Christian is your friend. The "normal" ratio is another discussion.
    6) In normal life, you should live and let live. In war, if the opponent won't play that way, then live and let die. You gave them a chance; they blew it.

Unless every single one of those 49 people killed were war criminals and evil terrorists, then there's not much debate: they were innocents slaughtered.

I'm more curious about how it could've been prevented. How many churches over there will add security measures? How about in other countries? Is there concealed carry practiced in New Zealand? Ross7's excerpts from the "manifesto" show a surprising amount of insight into political maneuvering and planned outcomes. It would be a shame to make it all come true, thus proving how easily the populace could be manipulated.

I do now have a downloaded 16 minute version of the gunman shot video that I have not yet cared to watch, but for people connected say to church security groups that need it for training purposes i can get you access to a copy of it. Muslims do not have pews so the cover and concealment is different when shooting up a mosque as compared to a christian church.
apparently there was some resistance, but it was not effective.

The murderer apparently had good quality weapons and perhaps a decent car. Not clear where his financing came from at the moment.
