I carry a bersa thunder 380 combat plus. 15 rounds in a package not much bigger than a ppk can't be beat.

Let me throw in a plug for the S&W 380 EZ. You can cycle the slide with one finger, the recoil is almost nonexistent, and it comes with or without a manual safety. My daughter is recoil sensitive and has one and loves it.

I was wondering about that gun, but it looks larger than a Shield 9mm. I haven't actually held one.

If possible, take her to a range that has loaners or pistols she can try before buying. My wife settled on the Sig P238 after trying many others. It is easy to rack, a plus for her, and extremely accurate. She can put most in the 10 ring at 7 yards. It has nice sights and many options as far as grips, colors as well as an extended magazine. After shooting it, I bought a Sig P238 for myself for occasions when I want something a bit more discreet. Normally, I carry a 9mm or 45, but the Sig P238 (.380) fills a niche and is an excellent choice. Check out some youtube reviews of the Sig P238. - Check this out too. { https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nycYxb-zNwc& feature=youtu.be}feature=youtu.be } You MAY be surprised.

It's either a sigp238 spring 911 or a bodyguard. These are the only 380s that meet your requirements. They other 380s have a larger frame and at that point you can get a 9mm that's smaller, easier to hold, more accurate, etc
The bodyguard being the only one you can keep a round in the chamber for a beginner. Downside to the bodyguard is the trigger is really long
