What's your favorite ammo for a sub compact 45acp ? In my Gov't size I've always used either the Ranger T 230 +P or Fed HST 230 +P . Not so sure I want to from a pocket rocket size .

Gold Dot makes a "short barrel" .45 that I have shot. I have not tested the performance other than it ran fine in my Shield .45.

I still carry both regular gold dot and regular hst in my shield as well as the short barrel version of the gold dots. All seem to do well.

any weight will work on your G30s. POI will be my deciding factor. general rule of thumb is heavier bullet impacts high and vice versa. good luck.

Shooting close range (<15yds) for defense (at a man) I use the shirt button theory. (As explained/taught to me many years ago by a "real world" trainer.)
Picture a man faceing you with a button type shirt on. Most of these shirts have 4 or 5 buttons right down the "gig" line. Basically, sight in your defensive pistol for dead on R/L. Then change your bullet weight all you want. We tried (in 45ACP) 165's to 230's. Aiming at the second button down, any bullet used is a killing shot and pretty much a COM shot.
Practice to aim AT THE BUTTON. Try to hit the button. (Aim small . . . miss small) Actually draw buttons on your targets.
This helps greatly during the instinctive shooting learning phase.
Imagine that . . . and my middle name is not even "tactical". --- SAWMAN

Yes I too was taught " center mass " & it has worked with a variety of weapons at various range for many years . Sucessfully since I'm still here . I've chosen the Fed 230 HST Tactical non +P load for my Glock 30S .
