I need some help! I'm building up an AR and have noticed several people have put the "fully auto" bolt in their builds. I have my eye on one but want to know if I need it or the regular bolt would work just fine. Thanks!!!!

Full auto bolt has to do with the way the carrier is machined. The full auto bolts are heavier. They are perfectly legal. It seems these days you would really have to look to even find a semi auto BCG. Google search semi vs full auto BCG image and I am sure some comparison images will pop up.

Larry, your talkin' a full auto style bolt carrier, right ?? Bolts are the same.
You can really use either . . . semi or auto style. I use both.
I have a complete BCG (auto) that is NiB if you want to use that. Extremely shiny, super slick. For 223/5.56,300BLK,and others. --- SAWMAN

Full-auto bolt carriers are good to go in a semi-auto AR-15. These are my preference due to the additional weight the carrier has. Most any semi-auto carrier will work just fine, but the additional metal (added weight) on the full-auto/M16 carrier seems to help in reducing the recoil somewhat. The bolt is the same, regardless if it is in a full-auto or semi-auto carrier.

OK, I want to thank all of you good people that answered my question. I was basically worried that I would get into some kind of machining deal on the upper or maybe need some kind of weird parts to make it work. I am at the Ft Myers show and found a good deal so I snatched it up. Sawman, thank you for the offer as I know anything I buy from you would be top notch and thanks for the pic Frommer as it let me check what I was getting was right. Tackleberry and Murph your info was most helpful also. Thanks again
