If the actual facts are as stated I hope the civil court judge throws the book at those responsible. There should also be some criminal charges. Why did it take three months to test the drugs to let here go. Why did not investigate the candy to see where it originated from. Should not have been that hard to run down the source of the cotton candy.

(CNN)A Georgia woman spent three months in jail after two deputies said a field test of a blue substance found in a car she was in turned up positive for methamphetamine.
But it wasn't meth. It was cotton candy.
Dasha Fincher claims that while she was in jail she missed several major life events, including the birth of twin grandchildren, and was refused medical care for a broken hand and ovarian cyst.
Now she's filed a lawsuit against Monroe County and the three officers involved for wrongful imprisonment and violating her civil rights. The lawsuit also targets Sirchie Acquisition Company, the maker of the field kit the deputies used to produce the mistaken test result.

A traffic stop turned into a drug charge
According to the lawsuit, Fincher was a passenger in a car that was pulled over by two Monroe County Sheriff's deputies on December 31, 2016.

There's shitty people in this world. Some of them just happen to wear a badge. These cops maliciously locked up this lady because they couldn't get anything else on her. The field drug tests are notorious for false positives and I'm surprised they're still used today. It was a traffic stop and she was a passenger. These shitty cops will face no repercussions because of qualified immunity. They will claim they were acting within the color of the law and won't have to answer for what they've done. The only ones paying the price is the tax payers once this lawsuit is settled. It would sure be nice to start raiding the police coffers and pensions for these assholes that screw up and cost people their lives and freedom. Maybe then they would stop and think about their actions.

You know what’s troubling is the police pulled the car over for what they thought was window tint to dark, and in fact it wasn’t. That’s the beginning of a travesty of horrors for tha lady. Turns out the field test kit gave the wrong results. I wonder why a grandmother with one charge was given such a high bond...? She’s going to win big money, and more than likely cops get off scott free as does the district attorney who asked for that high of a bond. More crazziness...

The travesty is we, and many others, know full well there was nothing wrong with the window. That is just one of a multitude of "probable cause" excuses that can be used without reservation/repercussion to "make contact." Their word against yours. You lose. But hey, if you aren't doing anything wrong, what do have to worry about, right?
