I have lately seen many references to 2 3/4" .410 shells. Ain 't no such ammo. .410's are 2 1/2" or 3". Folks should know better!

What world needs is not a good ten cent cigar, but a 2 3/4" .410 shotgun case. Obviously the 2 1/2" is too short and the 3" is too long.

Here is a video on the .410 that is hard to believe.

By the way .410 is suppose to be the caliber and the gauge according to google is
    a .410 bore is equivalent to a (hypothetical) 67-gauge.
. That is using lead ball method of looking for the number of lead balls that will be equal to the diameter of an unchoked .410 caliber shotgun.
Relative to shotguns the british usually say bore rather gauge.

IDK, but back when Am. Farms was around, I used to shoot dove there with a 410 single shot. I used # 7.5 and was nearly 1 for 1. Oh, and it was 2.5 inch shotshells.
And I can't ever, ever recall anyone asking or saying they were 2-3/4" shotshells. Must've been yankee's asking for that size?

It depends on the gun the of course, but a typical .410 single shot of the past has a chamber as thick as what is on a center fire rifle and a lot of free bore that reduces pressure. now shooting .452 bullets through a a .387" inch or so choke is what surprised me with out anyd change in the dimensions of the choke.
Not how thick the chamber walls are. I suspect a lot of shooting of .454 C would eventually loosen the lockup on the gun.
