.308win..... tons of ammo available, kills anything in north America. Short action, lots of upgrades for even more platforms.

AR platform, accurate, flat shooting, Low recoil plenty of knockdown power, think 270 light.

243 Winchester , it's been puting meat in the freezer since 1963 for me and is powerful enough with out to much recoil.

.25-06 until I started playing with .270s and 6.5s. Can't tell you how many times I have seen fur fly when shooting mine...recoil is very light in mine. It holds about a .26 group with my hand loads and .5 with factory Hornady.

I have been hunting with 168 gr 308 Winchester Ballistic Silvertip for 5 or 6 years. they fall in their tracks, but if they don't, I have not had a deer go more than 30 yards. I've hunted with 243, 30-06, and 270. They all put a deer down but just like the 308.

Favorite cartridge is the 300 Blackout with a suppressor.

Mild recoil. 21 deer, 16 hogs, 4 coyotes, and 17 armadillos all demonstrated it works well for me. IMG_0029.JPG fullsizeoutput_41b3.jpeg Last deer and bullet I took with the Blackout

Subsonic 108gr USGI frangibiles on armadillos. Supersonic 110-125gr on deer, hogs, and coyotes. I have shot trapped hogs with subsonic 220gr Sierra Match Kings into the brain, but that is not hunting and is not counted in my hunting totals as listed above.
