I wanted to get out early due to the moon phase and I wanted to scout a new area to hunt. So I set out around 11 on Saturday to scout some areas. Found some promising areas and finally just decided to climb near a bunch of oaks in a branch I found.

I was in the stand at 2pm. I gave the fawn call a blow once soon after getting up and nothing wanted to play. About 3:40 I gave it another good call imitating a lost fawn and I continued to look around. I came back to looking in front of me and she was on a line looking around for the fawn that was not there! I had to wait for a shot between some tall brush! And she was not stopping either. I picked a spot where I thought she would pass through, ranged it and waited.

She stepped in that hole and I let the bolt fly. Made a decent shot through the heart and she only went 30 yards and piled up.

After the shaking stopped, I reloaded and sat for a little while longer to maybe double up. But no takers and I wanted to do the drag work in the daylight. Got home, got her cleaned and back in the house before 6:15. I like when hunts happen like that.

Swhacker broad heads did the job.
