So all someone would have to do to win your vote is to claim to be a Republican? Nothing else matters? Their history, background, character, goals, plans . . . . None of that matters?

Scott signed it, but only under extreme pressure from Galvano, Sprowls, Corcoran, and Negron who are really the ones who sold us out. Broxson was also instrumental in moving the bill through committee Thirty pieces of silver was then paid by Bloomberg.

Everytown has already spent some of the money, which is coming out of its political action fund. It gave $250,000 late last month to Gillum's political committee, and another $25,000 to Fried that hasn't been posted publicly yet. The group also quietly gave $200,000 last month to the leadership political committee run by incoming Senate president Bill Galvano, who is running point on the Republican Party's upper chamber campaigns.

The donation to Galvano rankled people on both the left and right in Florida politics. But Everytown explained that Galvano played an integral role in shepherding the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act through the legislature this year following the Feb. 14 shooting at the school.

"Everytown stands with elected leaders who are on the right side of our issue, regardless of party," spokeswoman Phoebe Kilgour said.

The Florida anti-gun legislation was rammed through in record time. A true leader would have called for a significant pause in any gun legislation after Parkland, and been right up front to justify it by stating we were going to gather facts and not legislate in a fit of emotion. Wouldn't have hurt to hear that at the National level, either... Instead, the Florida legislation was rammed through in weeks and the most resistance Scott could muster was to announce that he would sign the bill if it reached his desk. IMO, this legislation was already done, and just waiting on an excuse to sign, and Scott was completely complicit.

    True!
Some of those democrats are gonna wise up and undergo a miraculous change of heart and switch to republican......

Then with your vote, go back to their nutty ways to legislate.

Raising the gun purchase age to 21 was directly because of Parkland...
the kids showed up, and the Florida Senate said,
"Ya know, you little twerps are RIGHT! NONE of you little morons should
own a gun until you are at least 21!!"
    So they passed that.

Bumpstocks always have been best at shooting fish in a barrel...hence why
they Las Vegas shooting was so successful. Thousands of folks trapped in an
arena and one jackwagon looking down on the arena with a buncha guns.
Even WITHOUT a bumpstock, that would have been a bad situation.
Good thing he wasn't very practiced or it would have been even worse.
Tactical guy would have shot at the back of the crowd, forcing them to move
forwards toward the stage where there was no escape and made folks panic
& crush each other even more...and keeping them in the open even longer.
Good thing he was just a Democrat who had recently figured out that guns kill.
Like the guy who shot up the Congressional Baseball Practice...again, good thing
he wasn't more familiar with what he was doing.

Honestly, it'll go back to like it was when Bill Clinton signed the AWB of '95...
lots of hi-cap guns and such easily available on the streets, but God Forbid a
Legal Citizen actually own anything that can equalize one man against a gang
of thieves. There's a reason Bernie Goetz did what he did. Revolutions have
been started over less reason than crazy anti-gun laws.

Heck, the US revolution from Britain was started over a 3-cent tax on Tea.
    People need to remember history.

Any proof that he was a Democrat? Most people here say Democrats don't like guns. He evidently had a pile of legal ones.

The fact that is lost on this is how the NRA gave up as well when it came to bump stocks.

I doubt the shooter as a Democrat, we do know he was a gun owner and a murderer.

Bump stocks are now defined as "anything that increases rate of fire" and as of October 1st are a 3rd degree felony???

    Who let this happen?

if you look at it white liberals and a couple republicans trying to save their skin. If you really go back to where the issue was you could say the former peculiar institution of the south. Without that there would be no victim class for white liberals to manipulate and thus no laws like that.
