The Euro model has always been very accurate

No one model does all storms well! There is a reason we have all the models to feed a consensus put out by the NHC. Models are just that, computer models and well if you read the forecast descriptions, you will find some human element in there a lot of times. They will come out and say that they don't believe what this or that model is doing and keep their track this way or that way! Even as we have made the models better with time with more and more data, there is still some unknowns and it's mother nature!

If it is mounted on your roof it would not be. I need to findout how to build proper Faraday cage for storage.
My house has a metal roof and the each block cell has rebar in it and there is wire everyother course which might help a little. These are things that would be nice to know.

My heating system does not require any electricity. Only wood and matches.

By the way the hurricane has been upgraded to make cat one by 1am tue and to approach land as cat two. This is becoming a serious storm.

    Cat 2 now...

It is predicted to reach CAT 2 before it lands. Looks like we will be missed, but need another day to be sure in the pensacola milton area.

Michael killed my Idaho Trip, flying back in Tues. Might have time to put up a few boards before it gets too bad. Odds aren't good to come out unscathed on the Beach and return next week.

All has got me worried enough to start closing the shutters on the windows. If there is going to be a hit remember to remove the chimney cap. I still expect this to go to the east of me, but one can not is sure relative to hurricane paths.

Purdy Gurl and Baby Gurl left PC ahead of the mandatory evac this morning. Should be back in time for minor preparations here. Depending on the rate of push from the other front I should be just on the east west side of any eye so just TS winds and some rain here. I have generator and saw fuel if needed and 1 of my new to me Coleman Lanterns are up and running :).

I am a little concerned for one of my buddies. He hasn't decided yet whether he will ride it out at his Apalachicola properties or come back here. 6' surge will block him from getting out across the only bridge.

Oh. Mine has one that flattens down and seals the chimney when not in use
During Ivan the winds were very high about my metal roof. While I did lower by TV antenna, the 6 inches left standing above the roof ended up with a bent sheet metal bracket. My antenna is disc in shape. Roof was fine since it was steel and I having put it up the spring before ivan and spent a lot of time screwing it into 5/8" decking; I put many of the screws through the decking and down into the roof joists. I did remove the chimney cap. If the storm stays on track I will likely not worry about the cap this time since I will be on the west side of the storm.

Latest update has it splitting Mexico Beach and Panama City Beach areas!
I am not able to see with that precision, but that is general predicted pathway. But still expect little bit of wobble. There is still a little spread to consider and worry about.

Tracking map: less precise, but likely more accurate. Show storm going to cat one on touching land.
