Anyone live up in north Baldwin County? I'm trying to take a group kayaking on Little River this weekend but I have no way of checking the current river conditions (no gauge online). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot help directly, but would think that you might Google a bait shop in that area and they might be able to share some info. I have found small bait shops have the best HUMINT reports.

I haven't been up to Little River, but most of the creeks in North Baldwin were back to near normal as of a few days ago. If that changes between now and Friday, I'll let you know.

Putting in at Presswood Bridge or Mannac Bridge or bridge at Hwy 59 near Chrysler(we use to call it Steel Bridge but its concrete now)?

I’ve put in at Mannack with canoe back in the 70’s and made it to the Alabama River at Dixie Landing.
Happened up on some topless lady swimmers and that was kinda neat!

Have you done the Rice Landing to Bottle Creek Indian Mounds yet?
I wanna do that in my Ghenoe & little outboard this winter.

When you decide to make that trip get in touch and I’ll get my ghenoe and little outboard and join you. Been raining pretty hard the last 24 hours and water is likely up. I’ll try to get up there this pm or in the morning for a report.

I just got back from the Little River crossing at hwy 59. Water is high, muddy and moving pretty fast. The parking area is partially flooded near the bank. For reference the water level at the Claiborne dam is around 25 feet. Flood stage is 42 feet and normal levels are around 7 to12 feet. Certainly navigable but maybe not what you are looking for. This rain has everything messed up and strange for this time of the year. Hope this was helpful.

Will do but we are a paddle club, so you'll have to ditch the outboard......

PM sent with my name and cell number.
Would like to go when it cools just a little bit more in a few weeks.

Good place to put would be Rice Landing just north west of Stockton off hwy59 or we can put in at Live Oak Landing for a bit more distance on the river.

Either place would be fine with me. I’ve been to the Rice creek landing several times but never launched there. I’ve never been to the mounds either but would like to learn how to find it. Thanks!
